Multisensor Tracking
In a VTS system it is usual that targets are detected by more than one sensor. The process of merging targets from different sensors into a individual target is called Multisensor Tracking.

Another term used is Target Fusion.

The multi sensor tracker will integrate data based on available criterias:

  • Absolute Position
  • Speed
  • Course
  • Radar echo parameters
  • Transponder data parameters

Merging of data from several radars
The top left picture shows the result of the multi sensor tracking – which is one target sent to the Traffic Display and presented to the VTS Operator.

The other three pictures shows Radar video overlay from three radars, each marked with distinctive colours for better visual perception.
